Are you one of those people that are always busy, always trying to be on your feet instead of taking time out? This one is for you, it may feel normal for you to always be up and about, fixing this or that but what you are doing is leading your body into physical stress and your mind is bound to get a serious block.

Taking timeout means that you become more productive, creative and it builds mental strength. A study proves that time alone improves stress management, increases happiness and gives one better life satisfaction. How do I do this?

DISCONNECT FROM THE WORLD

If you consider lying on your bed and scrolling through twitter aloe time, errrmmmm, I am sorry to disappoint you but that is not it. Twitter is a space on its own, so many opinions and thoughts floating and you are consuming them. And I promise that one of those opinions is going to have you feeling tense. You can not really avoid it.

Instagram has a way of making you feel like you are not doing enough, has you envying a life you do not have or do not really want anyway so that is not helpful either. All I am saying is disconnect yourself, take time to evaluate your life and the changes you need to make.

We live on our phones and most of these spaces are toxic. Invest time into your life, your ideas, your dreams, your soul and your spirit. When you decide to take some time alone then do just that, turn off your phone and pack it away. Enjoy your time alone.

WHAT TO DO?

Turn on the music and lose yourself I love doing this from time to time. I will sing at the top of my lungs, dance in the mirror and shake what my mama gave me till I drop to the floor. A nice shower afterward relaxes me and a nap often follows.

Make yourself a very nice meal or order in, find the couch and watch movies or your favorite series uninterrupted. You could learn a lesson or laugh your lungs out in the process. They do say laughter keeps the wrinkles away. And if you are creative, spending time taking in some creative juices via movies is a great idea!

Read a book if you are big on reading, that novel you purchased and packed away would really appreciate if you dusted it off and showed it that it matters too. Research on how to climb the ladder in your career line or on how to start the business you have always wanted to start.

I know people who feel all better when they redecorate or re-organize things. If that is you then go ahead and do it. After all, you have been thinking about it for a long time!

A small thing like taking a nap is enough, we count it as taking time to yourself. Relax your body and snuggle up.

It would not mean anything if I did not throw in writing, because, you know, writing is a therapy for me. Update your journal, jot down your goals, your wishes and your thoughts. Take this time out to reflect on the past week, write down the lessons and the things you need to improve on.

All I gave above are just examples but the point of taking time out to yourself is to come out of it refreshed, creative, motivated and ready to take the world on. So find the time to do the things that put you back in gear. The most important thing is to disconnect from the rest of the world.

Overworking yourself is not a sign of productivity. Yes, I said it. So play smart instead of hard. With this I say, if I hit a nerve please leave a like, I just want to see something. CIAO!
