How To Take Care Of Your Skin

For years I had been telling myself that I had good skin. It was as if my skin could hear me and decided to show me that I was playing. I did not have a skincare routine in place, I washed my face once a day, used camphor cream and moved. At times I would sleep in makeup, guilty!

Then I started to get terrible patches on my skin, it got more oily by the day and I would have outbreaks. It was absolutely terrible, makeup did not help much either, it got me a little depressed because I just wanted my skin back. I started reading on how to take care of my skin and decided to do better, I mean nobody else was going to do it for me.

My skin is on a road to recovery and my confidence is coming back. My little miracle does not make me a skin guru which is why I got one to speak on this topic. So here is what Runako had to say:

What is skincare all about?

It’s all about different pI haeractices and habits that help enhance the skin’s appearance and relieve skin conditions. This includes good nutrition and proper use of products.

Things one needs to know before getting skincare products:

Skin type. A person can either have oily skin, dry skin, or a combination of both. It’s important for one to know their skin type before getting any skincare products, as they work differently depending on the skin type.

Allergies or skin sensitivity. Some products may contain ingredients that may cause skin reactions if one has sensitive skin. Therefore it is important to be aware of this.

Why is a skincare routine important?

A skincare routine is important because it helps enhance the skin. Everyone likes having good, glowing and healthy skin!

What self-care routine would you recommend for one’s skincare?

My personal skincare and self-care routine is as follows:

  • I exfoliate 3 times a week using Runako skincare products. I usually do this in the evening
  • I use Garnier facial pure face mask 3 times a week
  • I always use cotton wool to wash my face, not a towel
  • I drink 2 cups of warm lemon water every morning
  • I make sure by the end of the day I would have taken at least 2 liters of water
  • I always use coconut oil to moisturize my face every evening
  • I only use makeup here and there, but if I do I always make sure I remove it and wash my face before going to bed

Using a good sunscreen. This is also something I am slowly learning to do and incorporate into my skincare routine.
