The Importance Of Finding Your Spiritual Balance

I just imagined myself trying to stand on one leg with my other foot touching my knee and toppling over. This is how I feel most of our balance is, we are living in a world where everything is moving a little too fast. We don’t realize it because it is our norm, even when we were younger, we were up at 6 in the morning to get ready for school.

In that hour we had to shower, dress up, have breakfast and be in the car before our parents. Then school was jam-packed with activity, when we got home we had homework and TV. Dinner time came then after dinner we helped to clear out the kitchen before we had to brush our teeth and say our goodnights. Now that I think about it, we may have had better balance in school than we do in our adulthood.

Spiritual balance involves the mind, body and soul. How many of us can say we are effectively feeding the mind, body and soul daily? If I am being honest I am slowly getting there, on some days I feel like getting my work done is more important than meditating, exercising and listening to my body. Yet the truth is if I don’t have that balance it shows in my work.

Here is something that I have learnt over time, the body needs to be taken care of and we do that by exercising and eating healthy. Including more natural foods in your diet (which is hard because we got choices!) really helps with your health, I personally don’t believe in dieting because I find that once you are off the diet you regain the weight and become miserable again. I do believe in eating the things I like but in healthy portions, that can become a lifestyle and is more sustainable. When your body is happy it also lights your mind. Exercise also boosts your energy and your creativity, read more about it here.

But will the creativity make sense in a clouded mind? Nope, not at all. So you need to find that time to declutter your brain and this may involve journaling, affirmations, prayer, yoga or meditation. Ay, do all 5 if it helps. We all struggle with anxiety and again because we have so much pressure to succeed we are almost always stressed out. Starting the day off by decluttering your brain allows you to get through the day a whole lot easier. I am still trying to figure out this meditation life, my brain doesn’t know how to shut up! I did find a series on Netflix called Headspace: Guide to meditation, so I shall also use it to get this right!

When your mind and body are in good shape it allows your soul to spread beautiful music to those around you. You exude an aura that is inviting, comforting, loving, patient and accomodating. It’s easier for you to carry out your purpose because you are balanced. I have had times when I have experienced this so I can testify to it. But making it a lifestyle is where the struggle begins. I don’t know about you but I want to be a light that shines bright in the darkness so I am going to try.

I have been on and off the wagon for a while but the idea is to stay on the wagon this time. I am determined to find and keep that mind, body and soul balance in check until until! Who is coming onto this journey with me? Say I, if you are! I wish you and I luck!
