One country among many in Africa you need to visit is Ghana! Ghana is a country I recommend you visit as it is full of rich history, culture, food and more.

Ghana has become a sought-after holiday destination in West Africa due to many celebrities such as Boris Kodjoe and more visiting. The 2019 year of return campaign also encouraged people to visit the country throughout the year, especially during December, when the festival Afronation was taking place.

My first introduction to Ghana was when I moved from the UK to Ghana at 16 years old for two years to attend a boarding school. It was through the people I met at school and in the community I became a part of that I was introduced to the food, languages and culture. Ghana is a relatively safe place to visit, people are friendly to tourists and there are delicious places to eat.

If you are thinking about visiting Ghana for a short period I recommend spending time in Accra to visit Osu Castle, the Botanical Gardens in East Legon, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Museum and Black Star Square.

If you have time to leave Accra make sure to visit Aburi Botanical Garden and Boti Falls. If you plan on visiting Cape Coast you should try to visit one of the slave castles such as Elima Castle and Cape Coast Castle, as well as Kakum National Park. If you are looking to take a boat ride, visiting Akosombo may be the best option. Ghana has a lot to offer for a fun and relaxing trip. I love how relaxed Accra is

Overall, Ghana is a beautiful place to visit and before you decide to visit Ghana make sure you know what to expect. This will make sure you know you have an enjoyable trip.
